Calming the Stress of Your Workday
Whether you’re working from home or back in the office, the workday can be stressful and can put a damper on your mental health. Luckily, there are some simple ways to calm down throughout the day. Here are some of our favorites:
Take a break from sitting in front of your computer and take a walk. Walk around your office or house for a few minutes or go on a longer stroll during your lunch break. Either way, being active can give your eyes and mind a break.
We can hold a lot of stress within our bodies, so it can be helpful to stretch throughout the day. Doing so will help you relieve tension associated with working behaviors (i.e. typing, sitting in an office chair).
Listen to music
Some people destress by listening to calming music, some destress by listening to upbeat music, and for others, it depends on the day. Whatever music works for you, take advantage of it. If you can, bring headphones to the office for music breaks.
Sometimes a change of scenery can help you break out of a stressful mindset. If you can, take your work items outside to work for a while. If you can’t work outdoors, consider going for a walk or simply sitting quietly outside for a few minutes.
Whether you work at home or in an office, consider having some items that bring you comfort and peace readily available. These items can be anything from a picture of family or friends to a blanket or your favorite jacket.
If you find yourself stressed out during the workday, try a few of these methods and see what helps you!
